Tasting Notes
Nose
Right away you get a lovely charred ember nose with hints of orange blossom honey, swath of peat smoke, hints of iodine, a real dusty - almost dried earth mixed with sweet fleshy fruits, cloves and spices. Lots of spirit/distillery character in this nose, without divulging - most Islay fans should be able to recognise the distillery.
Palate
Peated - however it's not overpowering, lovely attack of fresh spices, some dark chocolate, more sweet fruits - peaches and red apple, mild but not understated oak notes, mixed herbs with a dash of eucalyptus.
Finish
A medium to long finish, ashy, spices again, hints of cracked pepper, orange oil and honey, tangy oak with lightly sprinkled salt.
Overall
We love this whisky, it's why we chose it as our first Small Batch Release. A great balanced whisky, that's sure to please Isaly lovers. This tasting was carried out without water.
