Tasting Notes
Nose
Very intense sweetness, muscovado sugar and freshly melted butter. Lots of sweet toffee, coconut, red fruits such as raspberry and strawberry. Hints of plum, fresh wood spices, honey and vanilla. Quite complex, lots going on here.
Palate
A burst of orange oil, leathery, more sweet toffee, some what tannic with hints of oak and more wood spices. Red apples and pears, ginger and light honey. After a few sips, a distinct vanilla pod note arrives with nutmeg and cherry.
Finish
Medium – long. More sweet toffee and melted butter. Nutmeg and fresh spices starting to attack before a slightly bitter orange end.
Overall
A very sweet dram this is, another unusual wood finish from Glendronach. Some might not like the level of sweetness – however the second half of the bottle is a lot more enjoyable. Starting to creep up in price now, expect to pay £150 - £200 for this.
