Tasting Notes
Nose
A fresh sea breeze arrives, quite a minerally/salty nose. Fresh peat, lemons, honey, eucalyptus and chopped herbs. Fresh chopped oak, fleshy fruits and a fresh bouquet of flowers.
Palate
Sweet honey, menthol cough sweets, spice and mixed herbs. Muted vanilla pod, ginger burst followed by cracked pepper and an ashy, charred oak note.
Finish
Medium – long. More menthol, liquorice, fresh peat, charred bacon, pepper and spice. More vanilla appearing, fruits and dry ash. There’s a slight bitterness at the end but not overwhelming.
Overall
A great peated lowland whisky, you would be fooled in to thinking it’s from an Islay distillery. Available at around £50, a little pricey for a NAS whisky but we think it's worth it.
